What is a connected app?

I want to get a samsung infuse but it sid youll use a ton of data a month playing connected apps or games and i can only aford 200 mb of data>. does this mean i cant ply games on my phone or is thaat like certain apps? someone help i need advices please give me details of what this means!!!!
