Kelvin water dropper construction tips?

I am interested in buiding a kelvin water dropper, a href="http://www.splung.com/content/sid/3/page/electrostatic_machines," rel="nofollow"http://www.splung.com/content/sid/3/page…/a as a electrostatic machine. My question is if this machine could be improved by salting the water, thus improving its conductivity and ability to polarize. Any thoughts?
